What a race.
With both our race programs (Adam’s Program - Sketchy Program & Fakawi Banshee Race Development Program) available to race we were eager to show what we could do. Unfortunately Razman got hit by Dengue Fever and could not participate.
Adam's Seeding Run
Weeks leading up to the race, the talk was about the Triple Gap Jump that replaced the old Garden Gap. It just looked sketchy as… but hey, we racing DH aren’t we? With Adam back from his win in Perth we started with practice. All went well… hit all the lines and by Thursday, we all did the Triple (I could sleep well after that. Hahaha).
The team took it easy for seeding. Having two full on race runs on the same day is just so tiring… What did we do? Sandbagging is a word that’s been used lately.
So on final run… AC and I were the early ones down for our CAT. While Adam seeded 2nd because he was pissing about at the top with his Go Pro for his Sketchy Cam segment. Still able to seed 2nd in Elite while AC was dead last.
Final runs and I just went for it… conditions were dry but too dry really… some of the corners were getting really slippery. Pinned it and won my cat.
Aaron and Adam in Elite were the last ones down… Aaron had a good run and was able to clock the 3rd best time in Elite, a great result against some of Malaysia’s top Elite riders. Adam’s run was pure nuts. Crashing once and still took the win convincingly… After a long time trying to win here… Finally Well-done boys! Fakawi Banshee and all our Sponsors very the happy!
To top it off… Got to hear some lite Folk music at Sid's.
Thanks again to Fakawibikes.com, Banshee Bikes, FJC.
Also a big shout to Adam’s personal sponsors: Unsprung, Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang or PBA for short.
This year we did not set up our Pits. We decided to base ourselves at the local cycling hangout… Grumpy Cyclists. Lookout for some good news from us coming up soon.
Adam, Good luck in CEBU! Pin it you fairy! The rest of us will be in Port Dickson for the next race.
Divide and Conquer!
