I couldn't reveal the price - dont want the salesperson to endure more suffering... even the t-bolt is being sold at jaw-dropping price at that time. what i hear now that they have increase the floor price already. |

Proton T-Bolt. Hmmm... value for $$$, good stuff, good frame... bad marketing.
From EPX to Proton... Proton kill itself.. 'Proton' drop the value of the bike...
If not bcoz of the brand of 'Proton', mayb everywan will said this is a good bike. hahaha....Imported ma
Make in Malaysia? Bull$h(t!
Overall, this bike are good in terms of 'stuff' & reasonable in terms of 'price'. |

| I have been riding the T-Bolt since September 2006 and I must say I LOVE IT. When I first got it I was dubious because of the brand but at half the price for an unsued 2nd hand -why not. Its hasnt been modified (yet) but I have been riding in FRIM and zipping tarmac with kit accessories*. The heavy frame is a pain to climb uphill with but stable and awesome going downhill. I think its a real steal for a full-susser. Ignore the name (dont even think of the van). *Mine came with the DNM A0-R rear air shock and RST CAPA T4 fork |

Our dear national car maker ought to be smacked for not even consulting their fellow Malaysians on baby names.
Sorry back to the topic *snigger:
I love my T-Bolt also because its the rare white one! |

| Does they have frame that come unpainted? It would be really cool with carbon fiber looks. Can the paint be strip? |

I’ve ridden the T-Bolt, T-Blaze Alu, T-Blaze Carbon. Not a fan of the T-Bolt and T-Blaze Alu.
For the T-Bolt the problem is its frame and suspension design. The softly (air) sprung single, high single pivot design (reminiscent of Trek's famed Y-Bike) bobs too much under power and locks up when the rear brakes are applied. The bob is so bad that it disrupts your cadence when sprinting due to chain slack.
Nowadays with VPP and multi-linked FS bikes the T-Bolt just doesn’t cut the mustard as the excessive bobbing and locking up defeats the purpose of having full suspension on your ride.
The fork and shock don’t complement each too well either. It’s cos’ the shock is too softly spring. Just sitting on the bike will give you crazy sag drastically changing the head tube angle slowing down steering response
Beyond that, the full carbon main frame looks burly enough and feels nice and stiff but the same can’t be said about the rear swingarm, it just flexes too much whether you’re in or out of the saddle. My bet is that if you’re willing to overlook the shortcomings it will be able to take some beating. Good for limited free riding (mostly downhills and jumps) not so much XC (you’ll cry everytime going uphill no matter how fit you are).
Components wise…its ok for beginners but I’d stay away from it, save my money and get a good hardtail break that and then upgrade to a FS ride :P
The T-Blaze Alu, has good frame geometry with good frame design providing ample rear mud clearance but the box aluminium tubing is just too stiff. This could be a good thing for some but for me a good frame is one that is able to isolate vibrations as so not to cause fatigue for the rider (that’s why steel and Ti frames still survive today).
This is not the case for the massively stiff T-Blaze Alu. Even when dropping of curbs with its standard front suspension you’ll get pounded with every single hit. If you’re going to hit the trails on an epic ride this is the last bike you’d want to be on. If you’re going XC racing on pristine IMBA quality singletrack the T-Blaze Alu might shine. I say might cause I won’t know for sure as we don’t have IMBA quality trails here :P
The T-Blaze Carbon on the other hand provides the best balance for my intended use. Like the its fully aluminium sister the T-Blaze Carbon’s geometry is spot on and its oversized formed 7075 aluminium tubing mated with a fully carbon seat stay provides just enough give over high frequency bumps but is stiff enough to transfer power efficiently during hard out of the saddle.
The oversized alu tubing is also nice to look and has strengthening at the right places (butted head tube, gusseted top and down tube and seat tube). When first riding it I was amazed at how responsive the handling and acceleration was. It was also comfortable (a very difficult trait to achieve with aluminium).
Components wise both the T-Blazes didn’t set the trail blazing but it is a good platform to start from. I opted for a T-Blaze Carbon frame and slowly building it up with better comps. :) |
