Project “Tourist Bike Phuket MTB Jamboree 2012”

Rationale
Phuket is the province with natural surroundings where tourists both Thai and foreigners pay attention to. At present tourists are interested in traveling for learning, conserving environment, and solving global warming. Tourism by biking is therefore a favorite choice to allow tourists to get close to nature and better admire and learn about the attractions as they want. The traveling can cover all members in the family at all ages as well as help reduce global warming.
Track Zone Tourist Bike Club therefore joins hands with Phuket City Municipality and various bike clubs in Phuket join n hands to organize athletic activity of tourist cycling at the Park Sriphuwanat to promote and encourage both Thai and foreign tourists to travel to Phuket by biking as well as to cultivate people in the area to recognize the benefits of exercise and sense of taking care of health which helps promote good health, prevent diseases and disseminate the knowledge of good health to the public and youngsters.
Objectives
1. To disseminate the exercise by biking and campaign biking to reduce global warming.
2. To promote athletic tourism.
3. For good health of the public by biking.
4. To encourage the youngsters to make the best of their free time, away from drugs.
Target Group
• Those who love biking.
• Family group.
• Youngsters.
• Retired group.
• Athletic tourists, both Thai and foreign, interested in tourist biking.
Target
Bikers, local and foreign, as well as followers, not less than 4,000.
Period of Operation
During 15th -16th September 2012 (2 days)
Types of Activities and Operation
1. Biking distance is 40-45 km.
2. Males: 16-50 years old and 50 years old or above.
3. Females: General.
4. Children: male/female.
5. Males: 16-50 years old, souvenirs for the first 100.
Males: 51 years old or above, souvenirs for the first 30.

Females: General, souvenirs for the first 20.
Children: Male/Female, souvenirs for the first 10.
6. All bikers will get Jersey.
7. All bikers will get T-shirt.
8. bikers will get backpacks.
9. All bikers will get certificates.
10. All bikers will get insurances.
11. There is a lucky draw.
Steps of Operation
1. Organize the meeting of involving organizations.
2. Survey the biking route.
3. Advertise via radio/newspaper/online media.
4. Make documents for disseminations
5. Press Release for the project.
6. Follow up.

Schedule of Project “Tourist Bike Phuket MTB Jamboree 2012”

Saturday 15th September 2012

9.00 am -Tourist competitors arrive at the Katina Hotel.
-Welcome tourist competitors and the accompanied with
jasmine garlands from Wichit Minicipality and Phuket Bike
Clubs. The tourist competitors register and get bike numbers
and souvenir shirts.
3.00 pm -Director of Phuket Tourism Authority welcomes tourist competitors and signals the parade around town.
4.30 pm -Tourist competitors cycle to the Katina Hotel and have a rest freely.

Sunday 16th September 2012

6.00 am -Biking competitors get ready at The Park Sriphuwanat
7.45 am - President of the Ceremony delivers Opening Speech.
7.00 am - Signal for the start.
12.00 pm - Sport tourists start to reach the finish line.
12.10 pm - Sports tourists and followers have lunch
13.30 pm -Performances by Phuket Tourism Council.
-Giving trophies to the first 160.
14.30 pm -Lucky Draw and Entertainment.
15.00 pm -Closing Ceremony.
